This contribution aims to analize the possibility of the presence of a «grotesque food» in the Cena Trimalchionis by Petronius. First of all, I will examinate some theories of the grotesque with a general overview of different and yet similar positions on this artistic and literary category. After that, I will investigate the presence of the grotesque in the Cena’s courses by suggesting some characteristic properties of the grotesque which can be identified in these foods. An attempt of interpretation about «grotesque food» in Petronius will follow in the conclusions.
Laureata cum laude all’Università degli Studi di Milano in Lettere antiche con una tesi riguardante il legame tra vicenda elegiaca e linearità narrativa, frequenta attualmente la magistrale in Filologia, Letterature e Storia dell’antichità. Per “Fillide” ha pubblicato un saggio su eros e grottesco circa la settima elegia del quarto libro di Properzio. Oltre che di poesia amorosa latina, si interessa anche di narratologia, letteratura e poesia contemporanee. Un suo racconto è apparso di recente su “Rivista Blam”.
