This article intends to offer a broad look at the setting of Morgenstern’s lyrics to music. Set to music by illustrious composers of the twentieth century, who also experimented on those verses, creating a happy symbiosis of text and music. Morgenstern’s interest in Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophy, to which he substantially adhered, falls within this area.
